PEST CONTROL: SPIDERS

Spiders found around the home have an ominous, but often-undeserved reputation. Though most spiders are venomous and considered predators, of the species found in Australia, few are actually considered a health threat. Spiders are actually helpful in controlling other pests in the home or garden since they feed on other insects and spiders. They generally bite and inject venom into their prey. Spiders rarely bite humans.

Species such as funnel webs and red backs have the ability to cause serious health effects. There are thousands of different species of spiders.

Control Measures
The simplest method of controlling spider infestation is to reduce the pest population other insects inside the home so they seek a more dependable food supply outside the home. Control of spiders is best achieved by following an integrated pest management approach that involves multiple tactics, such as preventive measures, exclusion, and chemicals applied to targeted areas.

Chemical Control
Orange Protector will apply a residual spray around all external areas such as eaves, gutter lines, pergolas, outdoor furniture and fence lines. Depending on how bad the infestation is we will mist internal areas such as cornices and skirtings. Finally we will dust cavity walls and ceiling voids.

The products we use for spider control are synthetic pyrethroids. They have been thoroughly tested and approved by the appropriate authorities. All material safety data sheets are carried by our technicians and can be supplied upon request.
